Catfish Hunter's pitching led the way in 1972 against the Cincinnati Reds when six of the seven games were decided by one run. The 1974 Fall Classic versus the Los Angeles Dodgers featured the hitting of Joe Rudi and Bert Campaneris, and pitcher Ken Holtzman's timely home run that sealed the A's third title in a row and place in history.
Fifteen year later the A's met the San Francisco Giants in a historic World Series. After the A's won the first two games, Game Three was delayed ten days by an earthquake that left sixty-seven people dead and rolled destruction across sections of the Bay Area.
